Shikhar Dhawan enjoys ICC matches, focuses on ODI WC 2023

Shikhar Dhawan, a veteran India opener said he enjoys participating in ICC tournaments and mentioned his interest in joining the ICC ODI Global Cup in 2023 in India.

Dhawan has performed dominant participation within the ICC 50-over, in which he recorded 10 fits for the ODI Global Cups 2015 and 2019, while also making 537 runs, averaging 53,70.

Previously in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, he even managed to get a golden bat award after scoring at a mean of 90,75, with 365 runs in 5 matches.

In an interview with the Instances of India, Dhawan mentioned how he loves his time playing in the ICC tournament. He also expresses his excitement, and how he got power every time he puts on the Indian jersey.

“I really like taking part in ICC tournaments," he said.

"There may be all the time a unique feeling and pride and I’ve had some superb tournaments previously. I get ready and way each and every match precisely the similar means,” Dhawan said.

Moreover, he also continued by describing how he takes advantage of "power."

“Each time I put on the Indian jersey, power is all the time there and the article is, as a skilled participant, I understand how to take care of power," he said.

According to him, the "excitement" contributes to his strength when performing.

Dhawan intends to play more matches

Additionally, when talking about his interest, Dhawan said that he wishes to play as many matches as possible for India.

Dhawan will act as deputy to KL Rahul in the upcoming ODIs against Zimbabwe. He said that it is an honour for him to captain India.

Dhawan also mentioned how he always wants his team to enjoy their time on the field, but also maintain intensity during the game.

“I want my team to enjoy themselves on the field, but maintain the intensity during the game and to enjoy playing for Team India,” Dhawan said.

“I enjoy mentoring the young boys and passing on knowledge and that continues to bring out the leadership qualities in me.”

He also mentioned his intention to partake in the IPL for India, besides the T20.

“In between, there’s the IPL as neatly, so I will be able to attempt to proceed to accomplish there and glance to play the home one-day and T20 fits and stay myself match-fit and able,” he added.

Previously, Dhawan has played in the IPL during their team’s Sri Lanka tour in 2021.

“I have a very good relationship with Rahul Dravid. I’ve had the opportunity to play against him (in the IPL) and during India ‘A’ games when he was the coach, we had a lot of interaction and we have been in sync since then.”
